Serious Games- Yellow Class

Do you really know who is e-mailing, chatting, or IM’ing with you or do you think you know? Well this game is called The Creep, it was designed to help teens who are online talking to people that they may or may not know. At the beginning of the game it gives you three characters to choose from along with their age and interests, so you choose the one you want, then you pick a stage, whether it be IM’s, e- mailing or chatting to begin playing. When you start, every player begins with a total 500 points that can be deducted as the games goes on if you can’t figure out who the creeps are among your friends. This games is definitely a serious game because there are many teenagers out there who are on the internet 24/7 talking to and meeting people they may not even know and I think this games really makes you think twice before even adding someone on your Facebook or MySpace if you don’t know them.
Escape is a game which puts the player in a situation where their boyfriend is going out of town and he asks them to watch his pet mouse. While in his house you begin to come across certain things that make you think about going through with the relationship especially when you find a balled up note in his room explaining how he was going to break up with you and how he basically hates you. You explore the room by clicking on certain items in the room that permits you to see what kind of person he really is and then another twist to this game is that you are trying to escape from his house but in order to do that you must find the hidden key. This video games does provide an over view of how sometimes you may get into a relationship that you thought was going great only to find that it was all a lie and that your boyfriend or girlfriend is crazy and may even become a threat to your life. This type of situation happens to many people who are not aware or getting into an early relationship with people they don’t even know that well.
Serious games are designed to bring things going on in the world into our sight and understanding so that we may do something about it. These games are interesting and at the same time you are learning something new or you may have known but haven’t drawn any attention to it yet. Both of these games have proven to be serious games that will put good thoughts into the players mind into thinking before adding someone to their friends list, going to meet someone they don’t know, getting into relationships where you are not sure who the person is, or actually giving out important information about yourself that could eventually cause your life to be in danger.
